Jim is an associate director specialising in intellectual
property and technology related disputes.
Jim advises clients on all areas of IP. Jim has particular
experience in running brand enforcement, anti-cybersquatting and
anti-counterfeiting programs for clients with IP portfolios. Jim
has also acted in a number of high-profile cases in the High Court
and Court of Appeal relating to copyright (eg. Ordnance Survey v
The Automobile Association), trade marks (1-800 Flowers Inc v
Phonenames Ltd), passing off (Scansafe v MessageLabs) and patents
(Nikken v Pioneer).
Jim is also experienced in drafting and negotiating commercial
agreements involving IPR, such as licences and assignments. He has
authored numerous articles on intellectual property in leading
publications such as European Intellectual Property Review and
In-house Lawyer. Jim is a member of INTA, ITMA, MARQUES and the
Society for Computers and Law.
Jim has spent an increasing amount of time in recent years
advising clients on contractual disputes in the technology and
telecommunications sectors, and recently completed a secondment to
Accenture's in-house legal team. He is recommended in Chambers
& Partners, 2010.
